We recommend the d-c-fix application kit. This consists of a utility knife with a snap-off blade and a smoothing blade.

It’s also helpful to have at hand a pencil, a ruler, scissors, and possibly a hairdryer (the latter is helpful when rounded corners need to be covered).

You can use a ruler and pencil to draw any desired shape on the backing paper before cutting it out. The grid on the backing paper is a handy aid here. To achieve accurate edge finishes, we recommend always leaving an excess of approx. 4 mm when cutting. You can then trim away the excess with a sharp utility knife at the end.

If the surface to be covered with film is larger than the film dimensions, several pieces of film can be attached to each other. Simply stick the individual pieces together so that they overlap by approximately 10 mm to avoid exposed areas later on. Our foils are unsuitable for covering larger surfaces such as walls as they cannot be processed like wallpaper, since the pattern is offset and sections cannot be placed perfectly under or next to each other.

This is not a problem. You can carefully peel off the film and reapply it (except from on paper or cardboard surfaces), because it takes several hours for its full adhesive power to develop.

It should be smooth, dust-free and grease-free; untreated wood (chipboard or plywood) should first be treated with a primer (sealing primer/acrylic base).

Of course. To do this, you can heat the film with a hairdryer at the lowest heat setting during application. You can then pull it effortlessly around corners and edges. However, be careful not to overstretch the film.

It’s always best only to remove part of the backing paper and press down on the film from the center to the sides using a smoothing blade or cloth. If you place the film incorrectly, you can peel it off and try again (except from on paper or cardboard surfaces). For the best result, use a smoothing blade to smooth it out. Alternatively, you can use a small square of wood covered with a soft piece of carpet or fabric. In the case of non-porous surfaces, you can spray a little water on the surface. This makes it easier to apply the film.

The d-c-fix adhesive films are generally designed for indoor use and therefore for regular room temperatures in living spaces. However, a temporarily higher thermal load (e.g. exposure to direct sunlight) does not pose a problem.

We only recommend the use of d-c-fix films in wet rooms for bathroom furniture such as cabinets or similar. To ensure that the film remains in place for a long time, make sure that the room is aired regularly so that moisture from bathing or showering can escape.

Yes, d-c-fix foils can be cleaned with any commercially available cleaning products. The best option is warm water with a little dishwashing liquid. Wet patches can be rubbed dry with a soft cloth.

The use of alcohol-based disinfectants should be avoided. There is a risk of the print colour fading or blurring slightly.

In principle, the film should stick to them. However, it also depends on the condition of the surface. It’s important that the surface is free of dust, grease and dirt. Edges or uneven surfaces should be sanded down a little – it’s best to vacuum and wipe it with a damp cloth afterward and then allow it to dry. Place the film on the surface in one sweep and press it down firmly using a smoothing blade or cloth.

No, adhesive foils are not floor coverings or intended for traffic. The foil scratches and is destroyed.

In principle, this is possible. However, the surface should be as smooth as possible (e.g. no checker plate foil) and free of dust and grease. If the film underneath is a PP or PE film (polyolefins), for example, the adhesive bond will not be as strong as on other surfaces. If the film is applied on top of an existing PVC film, it will also not be easy to remove later as the films form a strong adhesive bond.

In principle, this is possible. However, it’s important to check whether the varnish is plasticizer-resistant and which solvents are present in the varnish. Suitable solvents include ethanol/isopropanol/water/mineral spirits. Whether it actually works in individual cases should be tested on a small suitable area, as there are many varnish systems on the market.

Option 1:

Spray the adhesive residue with water and leave to soak for a few minutes. The adhesive swells up and can then be scraped off using a spatula/scraper.

Option 2:

Moisten the adhesive residue with a mixture of mineral spirit and isopropanol (1:1 ratio), leave to soak and scrape off with a spatula/scraper. Please test on an inconspicuous area first to avoid damaging the surface.

No. In the event of a fire our foils will burn just like other PVC products.

No, we do not offer an application service. For professional application, contact a specialist company in your area. However, our d-c-fix foils are very easy to work with and can usually be applied without difficulty even by amateurs.

Yes, d-c-fix adhesive films can be removed again, even after a long time has passed. To do so, simply start at one corner and carefully peel off the film from there. However, how well removal works depends on the type and condition of the surface. You can use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive slightly, making it a little easier to remove. Adhesive residues can then be soaked in water and removed.

Please note: If the adhesive film has been applied to an unstable surface such as damaged paint or thin veneer, removing the film may cause damage to the underlying surface.

The d-c-fix films are intended exclusively for indoor use. In outdoor areas, the weather can have a negative impact on the service life of the films (e.g. altered appearance due to intense sunlight or adhesive impairment due to rain, snow, etc.).

The films can be applied to cabinet fronts for a quick and easy kitchen makeover. However, our standard films are not suitable for kitchen worktops, as they are subject to contact with food and high levels of heat in the area of the stove/oven.

Most of our deco films are available in short and long rolls (2 m and 15 m lengths). They are generally each available in widths of 45 cm, 67.5 cm and 90 cm. There are exceptions in the case of special and functional films (e.g. velour, metallic, blackboard and whiteboard films). Availability of the various dimensions varies depending on the design. Please refer to the current catalog.

Self-adhesive window films can also be applied wet, e.g. with water or the d-c-fix application fluid. This is actually recommended, in order to better position the film on the window and prevent air bubbles.

This makes it easier to scrape away the water from underneath the film, as the smoothing blade glides better over the film surface. With sensitive films such as the static Rainbow window film, water should be avoided on the film surface and, instead, only the soft side of the smoothing blade should be used. Alternatively, a thin, soft microfiber cloth can be placed around the edge of the smoothing blade to protect the film surface during application and make it easier to work with.

The films can be used in rooms with high humidity, in fact the static-cling films are particularly suitable here. You can apply them onto shower cubicles or windows, for example.

The self-adhesive window films from d-c-fix can be easily removed at the edges and then peeled off the window pane. If the film is difficult to remove, you can warm it slightly using a hairdryer to make it easier to peel off. If adhesive residue remains on the window, it can simply be soaked in warm water and is then easier to remove.

You can download and save all the d-c-fix catalogs from our downloads area. Please note that colors may differ from the original ones.

The d-c-fix window films can be securely applied to all vertical clear and tinted single glazing as well as to clear double glazing and clear laminated low-emissivity insulating glazing (single glazing). In the case of tinted double glazing and clear laminated double glazing, the window manufacturer should be contacted and their instructions followed. We do not recommend applying window films to slanted or horizontally aligned glazing, as this can exacerbate any existing damage to the window (even if it is not yet visible) and, in the worst case, can lead to glass breakage.

Depending on the design in question, the d-c-fix window films are usually completely translucent.

The d-c-fix films are designed for indoor use, as the weather outside can have a negative impact on the service life of the films.

Generally, the sunlight hits skylights and windows that are not horizontally aligned at a different angle. As a result, the impact of the sun on the pane and therefore also on the film is even greater than normal. This can lead to higher thermal stresses in the pane, which in turn can cause the glass to break. The use of our films further increases the thermal stresses. We therefore advise against applying d-c-fix films to skylights. Important: It’s not our films themselves that cause the glass to break, they only reinforce existing tensions and can therefore trigger glass breakage.

As long as the glass films do not come into direct contact with food, there is no reason why glass films should not be used on glass surfaces in the kitchen. With glass kitchen splashbacks, it’s important to ensure that the film is not installed behind stoves or on/above ovens due to the high heat levels.

For regular use on glass panes and glass surfaces, the temperatures are generally not very high, so there are no restrictions. However, the use of glass films in saunas and ovens should be avoided.

Apart from a few exceptions, our films are generally available in three widths – 45 cm, 67.5 cm and 90 cm. We offer Static Premium in lengths of 1.5 m or 15 m. Static is only available in the 1.5 m length. The self-adhesive glass films can be purchased in lengths of 2 m or 15 m. Availability of the various dimensions depends on the design. Please refer to the current catalog.

Static-Cling Window Foils

The static-cling window films can be applied to all vertical windows made of real glass. Real glass surfaces that do not face outdoors (e.g. glass tables) can be fitted with static-cling window films regardless of their orientation (vertical or horizontal). In general, d-c-fix window films are designed for indoor use, so they are not recommended for use outdoors or in vehicles.

For regular use on glass panes and glass surfaces, the temperatures are generally not very high, so there are no restrictions. However, the use of glass films in saunas and ovens should be avoided.

It's easy: first clean the surface to which you want to adhere the foil thoroughly with a commercially available detergent. Then moisten the surface generously with water containing dishwashing liquid. Detach the backing paper completely from the foil and if necessary also wet the foil. Lay the foil on the moistened surface and move it to the desired position. Now eliminate the water and air bubbles by pressing to the sides using a smoother or a cloth. Any clouding of transparent foil will disappear after a few days at a room temperature of 20°C.

1. The film’s adherence has been further improved.

2. d-c-fix static premium film is more attractive in appearance and has a higher quality feel.

3. d-c-fix static premium glass and window film is even easier to apply.

Check that the surface is clean and that the film is not protruding or has been applied over edges (for example, touching the silicon seal on the window frame), allowing air to enter. Check that you have removed the backing paper or the transparent backing film. Try to attach the film again using plenty of water, and then press the water out thoroughly using a smoothing blade. If the film still won’t stick, contact us. We will be glad to provide further assistance.

Yes, there are two d-c-fix foils which protect against UV radiation:

d-c-fix sun protection foil repels heat thanks to special pigments impregnated into the foil. It absorbs 99% of the UV radiation but nevertheless allows sunlight to enter the room.

d-c-fix tinted foil also repels heat and absorbs UV rays, while its tinting protects you against glare.

The visibility of glue beading through vinyl flooring can depend on various factors: the installation technique, and the specific characteristics of the glue used, and conditions during installation. Additionally, the installer should follow the recommended application techniques, including using the appropriate trowel or roller to achieve an even spread of adhesive and minimize excess glue. Refer to installation instructions. Make sure to let adhesive cure before stepping on surface.

The ideal time for installing vinyl decking membranes is when weather conditions are favorable and within the recommended temperature range. While specsific guidelines may vary depending on adhesive and product manufacturers, here are some general considerations:

Temperature: Most vinyl decking membranes have specific temperature requirements for installation. Typically, the ambient temperature should be within a specific range, such as between 5°C (40°F) and 27°C (80°F). This temperature range should help with adhesion and proper curing of the adhesive. It's important to follow the adhesives manufacturer’s guidelines regarding temperature requirements for their specific product.

Weather conditions: It's generally recommended to install vinyl decking membranes during dry weather conditions. Rain, snow, or excessive moisture can negatively impact the installation process and the adhesive's effectiveness. Additionally, extreme weather conditions, such as high heat or freezing temperatures, may also affect the installation and performance of the product. Therefore, choose a time when the forecast indicates a period of dry weather and moderate temperatures.

Season: Many installers prefer to work on vinyl decking installations during spring, summer, or early fall when the weather is typically more stable and predictable.

The vinyl decking membrane is lacquered (topcoated) that provides a protective top surface that provides durability and resistance against wear, scratches, stains, and fading. It acts to protect the underlying layers of the membrane.

The lacquer (topcoat) is designed to perform with normal wear via walking on the surface. It can be compromised by dragging heavy and/or sharp objects across the surface. This is most noticeable by scratching and removing the pattern (topcoat and ink).

It's important to note that while vinyl decking membranes can handle pet claws, they are not completely scratch proof (resistant). Intense or repeated scratching in the same area may still result in visible marks over time. Regular maintenance can help minimize the potential for scratches.

There are no specific tests called out for this product, but if you compare this product to the way thought of as paints and lacquers, it would be considered low (or less) VOC. It is designed for outdoor use, so it is typically used in a well-ventilated area. In the past, testing showed the overall VOC percent to be low.

Vinyl decking membranes are typically formulated to be heat-resistant and capable of withstanding elevated temperatures of typical seasonal conditions. They are tested using elevated temperatures (heat load) and UV (sun) exposures. This membrane typically performs well in these tests with perhaps minor fade and stiffening over a long exposure time. However, extreme, and prolonged exposure to very high temperatures, such as triple-digit temperatures, can still have some impact on the performance of the product.

Overall performance can be prolonged by regular maintenance and cleaning of the vinyl decking membrane and can help prolong its lifespan. Keeping the surface clean and free from debris can prevent staining and potential damage.

Vinyl decking membranes can become warm to the touch when exposed to direct sunlight and high temperatures. The extent of heat retention will depend on various factors such as the color of the membrane, the intensity of sunlight, and ambient temperature.

Dark-colored vinyl decking membranes tend to absorb more heat than lighter-colored ones. If the membrane is exposed to direct sunlight for an extended period, it can become quite warm, making it uncomfortable for bare feet and pet paws.

As a precaution, test the deck temperature on a hot day to test comfort level.

The product is not designed for indoor applications.

It is designed to be used for areas covered with product like outdoor carpet (does not have to be covered).

The product contains an antimicrobial to protect the film (only). It makes no claims implied or otherwise as to having efficacy in killing microbes on the surface of the product.Try to keep the surface clean.

Regularly sweep or use a soft-bristle broom to remove dirt, debris, and leaves from the surface of the vinyl decking membrane. This helps prevent abrasive particles from scratching the surface and reduces the chance of staining.

For general cleaning, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution mixed with water. A mixture of a mild dish soap and water, as an example. If you need to use a brush or mop, use a soft brush or mop with soft bristles to gently scrub the surface of the vinyl decking membrane. Avoid using abrasive scrub brushes, as they can scratch or damage the surface.

After cleaning, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue or cleaning solution. Do not use a pressure washer. The use of a low-pressure garden hose is sufficient.

The product does not need to be resealed. See above on comments about the protective layer.

Please see the warranty and the above comments.

It is possible, but the product is designed for places that use outdoor carpet. The adhesive would have to be tested for compatibility to the substrate.
