Creative Makeover: Turning a Picture Frame into a Chalkboard

Making colorful drawings on walls and wallpaper is incredibly fun for kids. But for parents, it usually ends in something of a disaster. We have a solution to this! Simply turn an old picture frame into a chalkboard with the help of d-c-fix chalkboard foil. Your little ones can then let their creative energy run free on just one part of the wall. You will need:

  • d-c-fix adhesive chalkboard foil green
  • d-c-fix application kit with smoothing blade and utility knife
  • Pencil
  • Folding rule
  • Ruler
  • Scissors

You have everything you need? Then get started!

Remove the sheet of glass from the picture frame.
Step 1

Open up the picture frame and detach the sheet of glass.

Sheet of glass is measured using a folding rule.
Step 2

Use the folding rule to measure the sheet of glass.

Transfer the dimensions to the rear side of the foil.
Step 3

Transfer the dimensions to the backing paper using a pencil, adding a little extra allowance.

Use a utility knife to cut the foil along a ruler.

Smoothing blade moves over the chalkboard foil.
Step 5

Peel off the backing paper from the chalkboard foil and apply it to the glass pane. To do so, position the adhesive foil, press it down with the palm of your hand and then smooth it down using the smoothing blade.

Picture frame is attached to the wall.
Step 6

Reassemble the picture frame and attach it securely to the wall.
