Summer decoration at its best: lantern with flowery light effects

By day: an eye-catcher with a colorful summery look. In the evening: the perfect companion for relaxing moments on the balcony or terrace. Yes, it’s a real jewel, this lantern with glass inserts in the design of a lush colorful flower meadow using the d-c-fix Miraflores and high-gloss gold window foils.

Especially in the evening, when it is dark, it shows what it can do: conjuring up vibrant lighting effects that make the time spent outdoors even more enjoyable. Tip for upcoming birthdays or invitations: the DIY floral lantern is also great as a gift.

You have everything you need? Then get started!

Glass insert of the lantern is measured with measuring tape.
Step 1

Measure the width and length of the glass inserts for the lantern.

Pencil transfers dimensions to the back of the foil.
Step 2

Mark the measured values on the back of the d-c-fix Miraflores window foil using a pencil.

Utility knife cuts along ruler.
Step 3

Use the utility knife to cut the foil along the marking with a 1 mm deduction.

Backing film is removed.
Step 4

Now peel off the backing film from the window foil.

Smoothing blade smooths over foil.
Step 5

Now apply the foil to the glass surface of the lantern, which has previously been sprayed with water or application fluid, smooth it down firmly – and finally use the smoothing blade to squeeze out the trapped excess liquid.

Shapes are cut out with scissors.
Step 6

For the decorative finish, draw shapes as desired for the golden accents on the reverse side of the d-c-fix high-gloss gold adhesive foil, cut them out, and attach them to the lantern.

You did it!
