You know how it is: magazines, tablet, e-book reader, books, charging cable, etc. – you just want all these things within reach from the sofa in the living room! But it would be far better to have them well tucked away, so that things always look tidy. Our new DIY favorite for the living room really helps: the storage box with its open top compartments is extremely practical for storing things – and looks brilliant in a modern herringbone design! What do you need to create this look? The d-c-fix Chevron adhesive foil.

And here’s how the ingenious organizer for the living room works:

You have everything you need? Then get started!

Cloth cleans the surfaces of the shelf.
Step 1

Clean all surfaces of the shelf with a cloth. 

One side is measured with a yard stick.
Step 2

Now measure all the sides to be covered. 

Pencil for marking dimensions on the back of the foil.
Step 3

Transfer the dimensions in pencil to the back of the d-c-fix Chevron adhesive foil allowing for a little extra.  

Utility knife cuts the foil along the rule.
Step 4

Using the utility knife and with the help of a rule, cut the foil along the marking. 

Hand pulls off backing paper.
Step 5

Now remove the backing paper from the piece of foil.

Doctor blade smooths over foil.
Step 6

Apply the foil to the shelf and smooth it firmly into place on the surface using the doctor blade. 

Utility knife trims protruding foil along the edge.
Step 7

Protruding foil is cut off along the edge using the utility knife.
